Bi-Annual Music Production

Our bi-annual (even years) Production is a highlight. In 2020 we celebrated over 40 years of working with Mrs Judy Lewis OAM who works with us as Producer and Choreographer for our Productions. This is a major undertaking by all students, staff and parents to present a major musical/drama performance at the Jamestown Town Hall in Term 3.  All students are expected to participate and all practices are held during school time. Rehearsals culminate in a matinee performance and a Friday night performance. A lot of effort is put into choreography, singing, learning lines, acting the character, sets, props, make-up and costumes.

Choir

East of Ranges Choir: Senior students participate in a regional choir performance in the odd years, the years alternating with the Production. We join with other regional Primary schools to form the East of Ranges Choir. Combined rehearsals are held with the other schools, along with learning the songs for the programme in our own school Music lessons. This preparation is for the performance held in Keith Michell Theatre in Port Pirie. It is an amazing experience for students to perform on such a stage.

St James Choir: Students in Year 3-6 are able to join the voluntary choir, lessons are held within school time. The students rehearse a programme of songs for various community activities, including visiting the Jamestown Hospital and Belalie Lodge.

Music Tuition

Private piano lessons are available to students within school time.

Piano is taught by Carey Wurst and Margie Symonds on site.

More information is available from the front office or contacting the tutors directly.

Concerts

A Christmas or End-of-Year Concert is presented to our school community on the alternate (odd) years to the Production. Each class presents an item or two and there are some whole school items or songs. This concert is held in Term 4 at the school and has a relaxed family atmosphere.
