Bulletin Week 4, Term 2
Welcome to the Week 4 Parent Bulletin! I sincerely hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend. Last week, we had the pleasure of celebrating Catholic Education Week, which provided a wonderful occasion for our school community to embrace and honor the unique qualities that make us stand out. It was truly an enjoyable experience for all involved.
Yesterday the Official Blessing and Opening of the New Building marked a momentous occasion for the school. Distinguished guests, including the esteemed Bishop of the Port Pirie Diocese, Karol Kulczycki, and Ms. Nichii Mardon, Director of Catholic Education Port Pirie Diocese, led the blessing and opening of the new facilities. Joining them were notable individuals such as Professor Denis Ralph, the former Chair of the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools (former chair two days prior), Penny Pratt, Member for Frome and MP, Liz Keogh, Deputy Director of Catholic Education Port Pirie Diocese, Sr. Brigette Sipa, Head of the Order of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Sr. Kerry Keenan, Sr. Caroline Duggan and Sr. Marie Hennekam, all Sisters of St. Joseph, and Michael Preece, a previous Principal of St. James.
The building of the New Classrooms and Amenities was made possible through a generous grant from the South Australian Government of $299,000. The school community is very grateful of the contribution from the South Australian Government. The school also funded the project through cash reserves and a loan.
Many students and parents participated in the liturgy, either by reciting prayers or taking items to the prayer space during the offertory. Every student showcased great pride in representing the school and delivered a wonderful singing performance. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff members who contributed to the meticulous planning and preparation for this special event. Additionally, we express our appreciation to the Parents and Friends group for organising a delicious lunch for our esteemed guests.

Working Bee - Thank You
Thank you to the people who came along to the working bee. We spread bark chips in the garden beds at the front of the school, around the playground, near the tuck shop and the native garden bed between the Church and the Hall. Pavers and outdoor furniture were pressure washed and the yard was tidied ready for the Blessing and Opening.
Food Group Order - Last Call
Please ensure that you have your child's Toastie order in no later than 9am tomorrow morning. Toasties will be served on Thursday. Next week will be Bacon & Egg Sandwiches. Order forms will be sent home at the end of this week.
Parents and Friends Meeting - Tuesday 30th May at 6:30pm in the Learning Centre
Please feel very welcome to join us. If you have new ideas for our school or would like something changed this is a great place to voice your ideas. Our parent community is a big part of what makes our school great. Meetings are now only once a term. We would love new faces and ideas on how to build an even better community and to support our families. See you there.
