Week 10 Term 2, 2025
God of wisdom and strength,
As we celebrate Saints Peter and Paul, we thank You for their faithful witness, courage, and commitment to your mission.
Help us to follow their example as a school community that seeks to Live by Truth and with Love in all we do.
As this term draws to a close, we give thanks for the learning and experiences we’ve shared at St James.
Bless our students, staff, and families with rest, joy, and safety in the weeks ahead.
May we return renewed and ready to continue growing together in faith, love, and truth.
Amen.
Dear Families,
As we reach the final week of Term 2, it's a great time to pause and reflect on what a fantastic term it has been. There's a real sense of accomplishment, and rightly so. Our students, staff and families have worked hard and contributed to a wonderful school term.
I’d like to commend our Year 5/6 students for their excellent behaviour and attitude during their recent camp. They stepped outside of their comfort zones, supported each other wholeheartedly, and truly embodied the values we strive to instil at St James. Camp staff commented on how respectful and well-behaved they were, they were a credit to themselves, their families and our school community. A big thank you to Ms. O'Reilley and Mrs. Taylor for their organisation and leadership in making the camp such a success, and to Greg Farr for generously giving his time to come along and assist with supervision. Camps take a lot of effort behind the scenes, and we are so grateful for your dedication and support. Well done to all involved!
This week also marks the end of an era at St James as we farewell Mrs Jo Daly, who will be retiring after 21 years of dedicated service as our school cleaner. Jo has been so much more than her job title, she has been a steady and caring presence in our school, always showing deep love for St James and its students and families over the years. Her contribution has been outstanding, and she will be greatly missed. We thank Jo sincerely and wish her all the best in her retirement.
A sincere thank you to all of our staff for everything they have done this term. Every single role at St James is vital, and it is the commitment and care of each staff member that makes our school such a special place to be. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and I’m deeply grateful.
As we head into the school holidays, I encourage all families to enjoy some rest, spend quality time together, and stay safe. I hope the break brings joy, relaxation, and time to recharge before we begin another exciting term.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
Students receiving their first Holy Communion will begin preparing for the sacrament with their families and peers early next term. This week, families will receive a note via Operoo outlining what families need to do and when for this sacrament. Students celebrating their First Holy Communion through the parish will be on Sunday 24th August at 9am.
ST JAMES FEAST DAY – 25TH JULY
In Week 1, we will be celebrating the feast day of St James with a Mass on Friday morning at 9:30am. This will be led by the Year 5/6 class. Parents, Families and parishioners are all welcome to attend.
MARY MACKILLOP DAY – 8TH AUGUST
On Friday of Term 3, we will be joining together with St Joseph’s Gladstone and St Joseph’s Peterborough for our annual Mary MacKillop Day celebrations. This year students will be heading to Bundaleer for the day. Please keep an eye out early next term for lunch orders. We thank the Parents and Friends who have kindly offered to assist us with this for the three schools.

SAPSASA NETBALL
Congratulations to Rosie R, Indy F and Ethel A who participated in SAPSASA Netball last week.
SACPSSA NETBALL CARNIVAL

On Tuesday the 24th of June, five students from the Year 5/6 Class (Grace, Owen, Finn, Sophie, Bentley) travelled to Riverdale Primary School to attend the Maker’s Empire Kids in Space South Australian showcase. At the showcase, these students represented our school in sharing and celebrating the hard work their class had been putting into developing possible solutions to the drought. The students had been working towards this goal for a series of months and did an excellent job in sharing and explaining their 3-D printed models that all aimed to somehow assist the farmers in their local community in combatting such a huge and prominent problem. Congratulations to not just those who represented our school, but all 25 of the year 5/6 student who worked diligently to come up with the many inventions that were developed throughout the course of the project.
